David's Little Secrets! (August 2002, M magazine)

M spoke to 7th Heaven's David Gallagher, who shared a few surprises!

We've all grown to love David as Simon Camden on the hit WB series "7th Heaven". But did you know, that in real life, David is nothing like Simon? M got David to spill his personal secrets and give us the scoop on his new movie, "Little Secrets". It's in theaters everywhere August 16. Plus, David told us about his future on 7th Heaven. Only in M!

his secret tv wish...

Even though David is just as sweet as his TV character, Simon, the two couldn't be more different. David secretly wouldn't mind seeing Simon loosen up and learn how to have fun. "I want to see Simon date more," says David. "It's funny when people hear me say that because they go, 'Hasn't Simon dated enough?' and I go, 'No, never. He could never date enough!'"

his secret future plans...

David doesn't mean to worry his fans, but he's got a secret to share about his future on the show. There is a chance that this year may be his last season on "7th Heaven" for the time being. Why? "I'm going to be a senior and I need to go to college, and that is the only reason," David explains, "I've seen kids try to combine work and college, and it doesn't work. I mean homework in high school is hard enough, and I'm just barely getting through with good grades, y'know?" he says. But don't worry because, if he does take a break, David would be open to the possibility of making guest appearances on "7th Heaven". He'll also work on movies during school vacations!

his secret movie dreams...

If you think acting is all David dreams of, think again. "I want to study film and cinematography because I want to be a director," he tells M. In fact, David is even producing a film called "Coldwater" this summer and he's also working on a movie script with one of his best buds, Jason. "I see myself directing, writing, producing, and acting," says David.

his secret musical career...

David's talent doesn't end there. This music fan, who digs tunes by Linkin Park and Eminem, is also a skilled guitar player and he's writing songs. "Music is the thing that keeps me going. It's my sanity," says David. So, will he ever release a CD? "Well, for now, it's more like a hobby," he says, "And I get sick of my own songs really quickly, so I mostly just drop them and come up with something new."

his secret Latin moves...

David's secret obsession? This half Irish, half Cuban actor can dance for six hours straight! "I'm proud to have the Latin hips," he says!

"I had so much fun shooting this movie with Evan and Michael," says David. Evan Rachel Wood (14) played Jessie on the short-lived series "Once and Again". This North Carolina-born actress spent an hour every day practicing the the violin for the role of Emily. "I didn't have to make the sound come out right, I just had to make it look good," Evan says. Talented Michael Angarano (14), who plays Phillip, hails from Brooklyn, NY. He's also a regular on TV's "Will and Grace". The funniest thing about shooting "Little Secrets" in Salt Lake City, Utah? "David had a secret crush on one of the girls in the movie and I teased him about it," says Michael, laughing. They also had ice cube and pillow fights in the hotel!
